- edited March 2013Thankyou, I am currently experimenting with markings and more complicated coats to see if they are as accurate as they are in real life.

Genetics in the sims 3 is all randomized based on both parents, however if you know Genotyping and what not of the horses coat and are able to use any method I personally use a Coat Calculator found online that allows you to enter all the genotypes for both parents to termine the percentage outcome of each coat then you can bring realism into the game Genetics wise.
Otherwise its all just randomly placed coloring, markings ect. Eventually you will get a wacky looking foal no matter what markings and coloring the parent has something will be off.
So in reality this is helpful for those that wish to learn and understand genotyping and genetics better, but in reality of the way sims 3 does breeding.its not practical to say its 'UNderstanding genetics in the sims 3' as its randomized.
Just my two cents. - edited March 20130
- edited March 2013yeah I think you did the dog genetics, and I know its random. But I am just teaching people not just about genetics, but I am testing to see how realistic they can be to real life genetics from actual horse breeding the only random thing that happened here was the chestnut tails.
I did produce atleast 5 foals and for each foal I show here. These are the coat variants that came out most. E.g the grey that was bred with the chestnut the markings where random. but these two where bred 5 times and every foal except 1 came out grey so this is the theory I am trying to do to experiment and see how realistic it is. But for the black vs chestnut I bred the two again 5 times or probably more for this one and they kept coming out black but with the annoying not just tail but also chestnut mane & tail -_-
But thankyou for the information it can help me for future experiments - edited March 2013yeah I think you did the dog genetics, and I know its random. Basically the way the Sims does it is based firstly on the horses base coat layer, from there any markings are randomized to create the foal, which in my opinion is the dumbest thing EA has come out with yet. - edited March 2013Yeah, I kind of gave up on my study.
I got really busy with final exams comming up :S - edited March 2013Oh yeah I know this but I tried adding the allover body marking to make it more random with the grey like a grey horse but underneath it carries the black gene and see if the foals came out black but they remained grey I will try it the opposite way the black as base and Grey as the secondary coat and see what happens... dun dun duuuuuuuun lol sorry I just had to XD
